Zelestra lands financing for 16 MW of solar projects in Italy

Zelestra has secured project financing for a 16 MW portfolio of solar PV assets in Italy, marking another step forward in the company’s European expansion strategy.

The funding will support the construction of two utility-scale projects located in southern Italy, one in Puglia and the other in Sicily, regions that continue to attract strong investor interest thanks to favorable solar resources and growing demand for clean energy.

The projects are backed by long-term power purchase agreements (PPAs), providing revenue stability and improving bankability in a market where merchant risk remains a key consideration. Once operational, the plants are expected to supply clean electricity to thousands of households while contributing to Italy’s decarbonisation targets.

This transaction underlines the continued appetite of European lenders for well-structured solar projects and highlights Italy’s role as a core growth market for renewable energy developers. For Zelestra, the deal strengthens its Italian footprint and reinforces its broader strategy of combining utility-scale solar with long-term offtake agreements to deliver predictable, low-carbon power.
