Trinasolar said it has achieved new certified benchmarks in perovskite/crystalline silicon tandem solar technology, claiming world records for both cell efficiency and module power output in industrial-format devices.

In a statement dated December 23, 2025, the company said its industrial larger-area perovskite/crystalline silicon tandem solar cell, jointly developed with Huairou Laboratory, reached a certified efficiency of 32.6%. The result was independently verified by Fraunhofer ISE CalLab, and Trinasolar said it sets a new record for a 210mm half-cut tandem solar cell.
The company also announced a separate milestone for module output. Its 3.1 square metre industrial standard-sized tandem module, integrated using the tandem cells, delivered a peak power of 865W, certified by TÜV SÜD. Trinasolar said this represents a world record for module power among devices of this format.
According to the company, the breakthroughs demonstrate successful progress in combining large-area tandem cell manufacturing with advances in next-generation perovskite absorber and functional layer materials developed by Huairou Laboratory. Trinasolar highlighted that the results reflect close collaboration between a major industrial PV manufacturer and a national research laboratory focused on solving key technical challenges in tandem solar technology.
Commenting on the development, Dr. Yifeng Chen, Vice President at Trinasolar, said the two certified records mark an important milestone for next-generation high-efficiency photovoltaics and reinforce tandem technology’s long-term potential. He added that Trinasolar plans to continue investing in tandem solar innovation as part of its strategy to strengthen leadership in advanced PV solutions.
