Gamuda Australia to lead ECI phase of Yanara’s 450MW solar-plus-storage project in Victoria
Gamuda Australia has been appointed to lead the Early Contractor Involvement (ECI) phase of Yanara’s flagship 450MW solar-plus-storage project in Victoria, marking a key milestone for one of Australia’s largest hybrid renewable developments.
The project will combine 450MW of utility-scale solar PV with a large-scale battery energy storage system (BESS) designed to enhance grid stability, improve dispatchability, and support Victoria’s growing renewable penetration. By integrating storage at scale, the development aims to address intermittency challenges while enabling energy shifting and firm capacity delivery to the National Electricity Market (NEM).
As ECI lead, Gamuda Australia will work closely with Yanara during the critical pre-construction phase, covering design optimisation, constructability reviews, procurement planning, and regulatory coordination. Early contractor involvement is increasingly seen as a best-practice approach for complex solar-plus-storage assets, reducing delivery risk and improving cost and schedule certainty ahead of full EPC execution.
The appointment underscores the continued maturation of Australia’s hybrid renewable market, where large solar projects are now routinely paired with long-duration storage to meet both energy and capacity needs. For Victoria, the project represents another step toward a more resilient, low-carbon power system capable of supporting long-term electrification and decarbonisation goals.
With ECI now underway, the project is expected to progress toward final investment decisions and construction readiness in the coming phases, reinforcing Australia’s position as a global leader in utility-scale solar and BESS integration.
