ACEN has reached a significant milestone in its transformation journey by achieving 100 percent renewable energy generation across its portfolio earlier this year. This achievement reflects a strategic shift that began nearly a decade ago. In 2016, ACEN had reached 1,000 megawatts of installed capacity, with coal making up the majority of the portfolio and renewable energy accounting for only around 2 percent. At that time, fossil fuels dominated the regional power system, and large-scale renewable projects were still in their early stages. Recognizing the growing urgency of climate change and the long-term risks associated with carbon-intensive assets, ACEN deliberately pivoted toward renewable energy.

The company reshaped its strategy, redirected investments, and built the necessary capabilities to scale clean energy across multiple markets, while gradually reducing and eventually exiting coal. Today, ACEN’s renewable energy portfolio has expanded to over 7 gigawatts of attributable capacity, including operational projects, projects under construction, and projects supported by signed agreements. As a listed company under the Ayala Group, ACEN has become one of the fastest-growing renewable energy platforms in the Asia Pacific, with the Philippines as its largest and core market. Beyond its home market, ACEN has developed a diversified regional presence, operating a wholly-owned platform in Australia and extending its reach to Vietnam, India, and Lao PDR, with strategic investments in Indonesia and other markets. “This milestone reflects our long-term strategy to align ACEN with the future of the energy system, while supporting decarbonization in a commercially disciplined way,” said Eric Francia, President and CEO of ACEN.
As a developer, builder, and operator, ACEN leverages its agility and collaborative approach to accelerate the energy transition across its markets. The company now operates entirely on renewable energy and is targeting net-zero greenhouse gas emissions by 2050, in line with global climate goals. In 2025, ACEN completed and advanced a diversified range of renewable energy projects, including 4,634 MW of solar, 1,957 MW of wind, 115 MW of geothermal, and 304 MW of battery energy storage.
These projects contribute to cleaner and more reliable power systems while supporting economic activity and local development in the communities where ACEN operates. Achieving 100 percent renewable energy provides a strong foundation for ACEN’s next phase of growth. Looking ahead, the company is focused not only on expanding capacity but also on enabling a just, orderly, and inclusive energy transition that delivers long-term value for all stakeholders. ACEN’s journey demonstrates that ambition, when paired with effective execution, can produce meaningful and lasting impact.
